its 1 year old and hes giving it to me with the stand included for 800 bucks. this a good deal. i heard they discontinued making these and the bulb doesnt last extremely long but for 800 including stand and sony model is this a deal?

A It's ok. I think one of the primary reasons why he's selling it so cheap is because it's now officially out of warranty, since Sony standard warranty lasts a year. After you pay the 800 bucks, if something goes wrong with the TV then it's all you. I'm not even sure Sony still services these TVs. However, a Sony Grand Wega 3LCD 60 inch refurbished is currently being sold for about 1899 on the Sony Outlet part of its website. In terms of price, yes it's a pretty good price for a 50 inch Sony TV, as long as you can stomach the risk of not being able to get it serviced in case something goes wrong. I think the first answer was a little confusing. 3LCD is simply the technology behind that TV. The Grand Wega 3LCD rear-projection TVs do have a reputation for having a relatively high defect rate and abnormal wear-and-tear despite normal usage. Maybe you'd be one of the lucky ones.

I was looking at HH greg today and they have a 50 inch LCD sony bravia 1080p for 2,600 and you get a 399 dollar sony blu ray player for free with the purchase. That sound like a deal or no deal? I thought it was kind of pricey but it will be my living room tv. And the blu ray player comes free with purchase...I will be getting the warranty on this tv if i buy it so i would have to factor in how much that would be also.

A If its the XBR4 bravia TV then yes its a smoking deal. If its the W4000 bravia TV, then its a decent deal, but not amazing or anything.

- Sony 50 Inch Screen Not Very Clear - Even with the HDTV Box?
Hello! I bought the Sony 50 Inch Wega and even connected to an HDTV Box and looking at HDTV channels, it still doesn't look very clear. I have the Cable Box connected using Component Cables so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas or sites in which I could go to for assistance. Thank you very much.

A - make sure your box is outputting a signal at HD resolutions (720p or 1080i). - some LCD projection TV's (I don't know if your set falls under this) sometimes need their thingamajigs (yeah, that's the technical term... :) ) realigned--when out of alignment, the images might look fuzzy.

- Are projection HDTV bulbs (for all diff. brands) universally the same size?
I'm thinking of upgrading my 50 inch Sony HDTV 720p. I just got an extra bulb. Instead of trying to sell my Sony AND bulb, I think it would be easier to use my new bulb with my next HDTV (Mitsubishi 60 inch 1080p). Would that be possible? Thanks!!!

A Using the manual controls on the TV keep the channel button pressed in and at the same time keep pressing and releasing the volume button.

A The led technology is the latest technology out there. It uses allot less power than plasma. Plasma tv's have trouble working in higher altitude areas. If I were you I would also consider a mitsubishi dlp tv. They have the biggest picture for the money, plus they have the 3d also. Dlp is what they use at the movie theaters. On any of the tv's make sure the hz specification is at least 120hz, this will allow for sporting events or anything with fast movement not to blurr. Also make sure the tv's are1080p that is the highest hd standard.Screen resolution should be considered too. Look at tigerdirect.com. They usually beat bestbuys prices plus most of the time they have free shipping too. They are also tax free in most places.

A It's very good. Still not as good as a comparable plasma, though. Why do you think 63% of the population prefer plasmas?

There is discolouration across the top of my Sony Bravia 50" LCD TV. The rest of the picture is fine but i have heard that this is a sign that the bulb within the tv is on it's way out?? Is this true? If so what can i do about it? Can i simply change the bulb? How much are they?

A believe it or not this was the problem i had with my sony bravia, try and turn live colour off and see if that sorts it, kind of sorted it for me but to be honest it went straight back as im not really into the whole lcd technology anyway

What's up!! Ok, my question is - should I get this HDTV or do you guys think there is a better one. I'm looking for either an LCD Flat-panel TV or a Rear Projection over 40'' with 1080p resolution. Any thoughts, because I'm having a hard time choosing one. A If you want a tv that will last by putting a moderate amount of money to and dont have issues with watching it at extreme angles, then I would recomend the projection. If you watch at wierd angles, or need to be able to mount it on the wall, go with the LCD. I would go with the projection personally. The thing most likely to go out is going to be bulbs, which when replaced (for relatively cheap) will restore the image quality to like new. It will last longer than the LCD if you are willing to do this. It is cheaper too, for a bigger screen.

When I saw this 720p HDTV on the showroom it was great but when I got it home I was shocked. The picture quality when playing DVDs was better on my old 29" TV.. much better. When I split the screen into tow screen the picture would look good but when in full screen mode it's bad. Now, why it looked so good in showroom? Dose DVD player play a big role here, I mean my DVD player isn't that old (2 years), and it's Philips with progressive scan. So.. Is my HDTV has a malfunction?

A try this: use component cables for video(red,blue,green),instead of the yellow one. keep the red and white for sound.also,when watching dvd,use 16:9,or widescreen format on your tv(picture menu),and on your dvd player menu,also set to 16:9(or widescreen.this is more than likely the way the store set it up,and probably the best way for you to do it.
